Panel 1: A night game in the ninth inning. The scoreboard reads 14–1 and the clock reads 11:48 PM. No dialogue. Panel 2: The catcher reaches outside for a pitch. Sam calls ‘Strike three!’ The batter protests: ‘That was outside!’ Panel 3: Sam: ‘Barely.’ Batter: ‘Then why’d you call it?’ Panel 4: Sam looks up at the stars: ‘It’s a beautiful night.’
